Dynamic Control of Traction Motor for EV Fed via Dual Source Inverter with a Two Battery System

An electric vehicle uses multiple energy-storage systems to power the traction motor. Dual-source inverters (DSIs) are used for single-stage conversion by skipping dc/dc boost converter stage; therefore, eliminating passive magnetic storing element which improves overall efficiency of drive; moreover, improve density system. This article discusses fine control a motor from zero speed rated supplied through dual-source inverter. Field-oriented with space vector modulation technique is applied achieve closed-loop control. Two dc sources used, one having higher-voltage battery and lower-voltage battery. The main supplies motor, whereas supplementary loads EV. presents improved dynamic behaviour an induction-motor-driven EV fed inverter using modified field-oriented modulation. improvement includes reduced complexity due achieving option operation in emergent situation same simulated performance presented system obtained MATLAB/Simulink. A step-down experimental prototype verification effective induction as under constant torque variable real-time parameters such power, factor, current harmonics, voltage/current stresses across switch two batteries individually.
